Here we go, cracking on to the second foodie blog post. Have you ever been to Denmark? Did you try their finest Danish Pastries and then struggle to find anything half as decent back home in the UK? We had that problem…until we found BRØD! They have 4 stores across Cardiff, and their pastries are reminiscent to the ones back in Denmark!
Our Review:
“September 7th marked more than just a date — it was a delicious dose of nostalgia. Armed with a thoughtful engagement gift voucher, we made our way to Brød (that’s the Danish word for ‘bread’ — and yes, the ‘ø’ makes it extra charming), a bakery that brought back mouth-watering memories of our Danish honeymoon.
From the moment we stepped inside, it felt like stepping into a Copenhagen café — only this one was nestled in the heart of Cardiff. The scent of buttery pastries filled the air, and we knew we were in for a treat. The star of the show? The Creme Smegl — a flaky, golden pastry bursting with creamy, sweet perfection. Every bite was like a love letter to Denmark. If you only try one thing, make it that.
Brød itself oozes cosy Scandi charm, with enough space to suit solo coffee sippers and chatty catch-ups alike. A handful of tables spill out onto the pavement for a touch of continental café culture, and there’s a quiet little courtyard tucked out back if you fancy a more peaceful pastry moment.
And let’s not forget the staff — an absolute delight. Friendly, genuine, and clearly passionate about their pastries. If it weren’t a 90-minute trek for us, we’d be in there weekly, without fail. Brød isn’t just a bakery — it’s a mini Danish getaway in pastry form.”

The pastries were packed with flavour and beautifully made, especially the Creme Smegl, which stood out. The café had a lovely, welcoming vibe with efficient service, though the ambience and pricing were solid rather than exceptional.
