What a first proper post to start with, my husband and I had some time off, and we decided to venture down to Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall’s River Cottage, which was surprisingly close to us! The venue has plenty of options for you, including eating at their café, which is supplied with plenty of homegrown River Cottage goodness, as well as offering catering courses, dining events, accommodation and being able to host weddings.

“Ever since I was a little one, I’ve been mesmerized by the culinary wizards on TV, from the charismatic Ainsley Harriott to the adventurous Hairy Bikers, the intrepid Rick Stein, and the pioneering Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall. Imagine my surprise when I discovered that one of these iconic kitchens wasn’t just a TV set but a stone’s throw away, complete with its own café!
With a sense of nostalgia fueling our excitement, we zipped down to this hidden gem for brunch. The place was a reimagined wonder, where once-bustling offices had transformed into a cozy café, breathing new life into vintage furniture. And the food? Nothing short of spectacular. We indulged in the River Cottage special—a hearty ensemble of sausage, bacon, and egg nestled on rye bread, all brought together with a tangy RhubarBBQ sauce. Simply delightful!
After our taste buds had their fill, we wandered the grounds, stumbling upon a secret viewpoint. There it was, the actual River Cottage, nestled in the lush countryside. It’s a sight reserved for those on culinary quests or fortunate overnight guests. My advice? Don’t miss out on this culinary sanctuary. It’s a full-hearted, 100% recommendation from a fellow food lover!”
