It’s located near the harbour, so within walking distance to the sandy beaches of Weymouth. Although, I would watch out for those gulls! “Fish ‘n’ Fritz has long been our go-to gem in Weymouth—a treasured tradition we return to time and time again. It’s the place we recommend without hesitation, and after our latest visit, it’s safe to say it still holds its crown.
The food continues to impress. Their fish and chips are far from your average seaside fry-up—these are crisp, golden masterpieces. The large cod is a proper showstopper: generously portioned, cooked to flaky perfection, with a batter that crackles and sings with each bite. Presentation-wise, everything was served simply but neatly on plates—nothing overly fancy, but that’s exactly the charm. This is a proper fish & chip shop where flavour and portion size take centre stage.
The staff were as warm and welcoming as ever, greeting us with smiles as we arrived, leading us to a table, and offering helpful recommendations as we ordered our food and drinks. It’s that kind of friendly, attentive service that really lifts the whole experience.
Although Fish ‘n’ Fritz is primarily known for takeaway, it does have indoor seating. Admittedly, the interior is quite plain—lots of brown tones and not much in the way of standout personality—but it’s clean and peaceful, which can be a bonus if you’re after a quiet sit-down meal away from the bustle.
Price-wise, it still delivers great value for a coastal chippy, especially considering the quality. And while the décor may not wow you, the food certainly will. We still stand by it: Fish ‘n’ Fritz is the best fish and chip spot in Weymouth.“
