“In 2023, my husband and I embarked on an adventure to Kansas City to meet some friends. It was my husband’s second visit to the States and my first, and we were thrilled to experience the heart of America—Missouri! On the second night of our two-week trip, our friends took us to the highly recommended Cinder Block Brewery for one of their famous quiz nights.
We decided to indulge in some food while we were there, opting for the loaded Mac & Cheese with a side of Cornbread. This was our first taste of Kansas City BBQ, and it did not disappoint! The Mac & Cheese was creamy and cheesy, with a perfectly smoky bacon crumb, and topped with a choice of BBQ pulled pork, beef brisket, or burnt ends. Choosing between those three was an impossible task! The cornbread, a novelty for us Brits, was the perfect companion to mop up the last bits of Mac & Cheese.
Whether the food was directly from Cinder Block Brewery or the nearby F’325 BBQ, it was a fantastic introduction to Kansas City BBQ. The drinks were delicious (according to my husband, as I’m not much of a drinker), the staff were incredibly friendly, and the quiz night was a blast—even if we didn’t know much about American pop culture!

Parking: On street parking, after a certain time it may be free to park
*Score is normally only out of 5, but the Americans make customer service their top priority, this place was hands down one of the most attentive we have ever been to.
**Score is normally out of 5, but the atmosphere here for quiz night was buzzing, combined with good food, good company and a great quiz host made it even better
