Daily writing prompt
What’s your all-time favorite album?

What a great writing prompt! As I get older, I enjoy listening to music more than before. Whether im at home, driving or travelling somewhere, I have to have music playing. When I met my husband, he introduced me to an app called Last.FM. In this app, you link your spotify or apple account to the app, and it tracks everything you play, and you get weekly, monthly and yearly summaries of the music you have listened to.

Down below you can see two images, the first one is my top played albums from the last 365 days, and the second one is my top played albums of all time (well, since I downloaded Last.FM).

As you can see, in the bottom one, the “all time listened albums”, it is very male forward, with only Sigrid getting into the top 15 albums. It features albums from the likes of Kaiser Chiefs (5 different albums), as well as Andy Black (2 albums) and albums from Bryan Adams, INXS, Brothers Osborne and more. Meanwhile the top image, from the last 365 days, shows a more even distribution of male and female artists. Most prominently is Taylor Swift, who no thanks to my husband who is a diehard Swifty, has crept up to my top played artist with 4 of her albums making the top 15 for the last 365 days. Alongside this, you can also see more recently that I have been listening to more country music, with albums from Orville Peck, Brothers Osborne, Fruit Bats, Post Malone and the Twisters Soundtrack album.

Only two albums feature in my most played albums of all time and in the last 365 days, and that is Brothers Osbornes Pawn Shop, filled with boot tapping country music. The other album is the Spyro the Dragon soundtrack, created by Stewart Copeland, the drummer from the band The Police. This was a game from my childhood, and the music from it was pure orchestral bliss to my ears, whenever I want to relax, I stick on the soundtrack and drift away to easier times, when I was younger, playing Spyro for the first time. Down below you can find the Spotify albums of Spyro the Dragon, and my current favourite album, F1 Trillion by Post Malone.

Fancy keeping track of the music you listen to, then download Last.FM on your app store of choice, or head on over to https://www.last.fm/ to create yourself account. There are two versions, free, which gives you weekly, monthly and yearly overviews, and premium, which goes into a lot more details, such as favourite genres, the time of the day you listen etc.
