When Life Isn’t Smart Anymore
Daily writing prompt
Your life without a computer: what does it look like?

Welcome to today’s writing prompt. The first thing I will do is change the prompt to, “Your life without technology”, because this prompt is kind of irrelevant as I could just reply with, “Do everything I would do on my computer, on my tablet instead”.

Life without technology, or at least without smart devices such as computers, tablets and mobile phones would be very different indeed. Just imagine that we didn’t have the ease of googling something, or using Google Maps.

Examples:
To call someone: Firstly I would need to own a phone diary, where I could write down the phone numbers of my friends and family members. I would have to search through that, find the contact I want, walk over to the house phone and dial them that way.
To take a photo of my food: Firstly, I would have to bring a compact camera along to the restaurant with me. Secondly, if smart devices don’t exist, neither would social media, so why would you be photographing your own food?
To get to somewhere new: You would need to own a roadmap, or an atlas (a word I haven’t used since primary school), you would have to pinpoint where your current location is in the book, then find where you are going to go. You would then need to manually work out the best route, maybe writing it down on a bit of paper. It might be best to write down some nearby roads to use, as you won’t have any traffic updates or know about road closures until it is too late.
Listen to music: Aint no Spotify or Apple Music, so you’re going to have to buy your albums in physical format. CDs are still available and vinyl is ever increasing in popularity again.

We take for granted the use of modern-day technology, we would get a lot less done in our days without computers, phones and tablets, as everything would take a little bit longer to do. Not much, but enough that it will all add up over the course of the day.

Do you rely on smart technology? For my blog I rely on my smart camera and Google Maps a lot, even more so when it comes to planning holidays. What do you rely on most with smart tech? Comment down below.
