Honestly, not until my husband and I jumped aboard the property ladder owning our first home, a new build 3 bedroom end of terrace property. Before that we rented a flat off my husbands parents, but we didn’t feel like adults. We had to pay the normal bills, water, electricity, broadband etc. But it never felt like ours. Whereas now we own our home, we have a mortgage to pay, and lets be honest, there’s nothing more grown up then paying for a mortgage. Like most adults though, we never truly leave our “kid phase” behind. We still mess around, a lot. We’ll chase each other round the house, play hide and seek.
Also, planning holidays. Beforehand I would just go wherever my parents booked and that was it. Nowadays I get the immense enjoyment of planning on what sort of holiday we will be going on, will it be a flying holiday, a cruising holiday or a stay at home holiday? Where will we go? What sort of price range are we aiming for? All of this I enjoy planning around, and makes me feel very much like an adult.
Talking of holidays, we are 9 days away from our upcoming trip to Scotland, somewhere neither of us have been, but both of us have been wanting to go. We are in Edinburgh for 5 days, which includes a road trip into the Highlands for 1 day, where we are hoping to visit both Glenfinnan Viaduct (famous for scenes in Harry Potter), as well as the infamous Loch Ness.
