Daily writing prompt
When you think of the word “successful,” who’s the first person that comes to mind and why?

Elon Musk, when viewed through the lens of his work with Tesla and SpaceX, stands as a pivotal figure in advancing human technology and exploration. His contributions through SpaceX have been particularly noteworthy. Over the past few years, SpaceX has made significant strides, and I have closely followed their journey from the beginning.

One of SpaceX’s remarkable achievements is Starlink, a satellite internet system comprising mass-produced small satellites in low Earth orbit. Currently, over 4,000 of these satellites orbit the Earth, with plans to expand to 12,000 in the coming years and potentially reach around 42,000 satellites. The primary goal of Starlink is to provide global internet coverage, ensuring connectivity across the entire planet. This initiative also extends to maritime applications, enabling boats and ships to access the Internet. As an avid cruiser, I have experienced the benefits of Starlink firsthand, with significantly improved internet access on cruise ships.

Another recent accomplishment by SpaceX is the recovery of their rocket boosters. After detaching from the spacecraft, these boosters re-enter Earth’s atmosphere and are successfully landed on floating platforms. Just last week, SpaceX achieved the remarkable feat of catching a booster on the same launchpad from which the spacecraft was launched, using what experts are calling “chopsticks”. This innovation marks a significant milestone in reusable rocket technology.
