So, in February, we are off on our fifth cruise. We did the same one last year, and it took us to Hamburg, Rotterdam, and Bruges. This time around, I am giving myself a to-do list of must-try things in each place. This could be trying a certain food, visiting a certain place, or seeing something specific. Scroll down below to see what we will be looking out for in our upcoming cruise.
Hamburg
So in Hamburg, we are looking to do the following:
- Try a Franzbrötchen, which is a twisty croissant sprinkled with sugar and cinnamon
- Try Currywurst, the famous German sausage fast food dish
- Visit the Speicherstadt neighbourhood
- Visit St Pauli
Rotterdam (and Gouda)
The second stop is Rotterdam, which is an overnight stay, meaning we get two days in the city. With this in mind, on the first day we will explore the neighbouring town of Gouda, made famous for its cheese. Across the both, here’s what we are looking to do:
- Try Gouda in Gouda
- Visit Markthal Food Market & try a Stroopwaffel
- Check out the unique architecture, including the cube house, Witte Huis & more
- Visit the Rotterdam Zoo (which leads to the daily writing prompt, my favourite animal is any dog-based animal, such as wolf or hyena)
Bruges
The final stop of the cruise is the delightful city of Bruges, filled with vintage-styled buildings and lined with chocolate shops. Here is what we will try and do in Bruges:
- Eat Belgium frites and chocolate
- Wander at the architecture
- Take a riverboat on the canals
Have you visited any of these places? What do you recommend eating and doing? Drop us a comment down below.
