La Kasia: A Pleasant Tapas Spot in Bridgwater

A new entertainment complex has recently been built in our town of Bridgwater, Somerset. This includes a multi-screen cinema, three restaurants, and a sports bar with a bowling alley. La Kasia was the second restaurant to be confirmed as going into Northgate Yard, but it was the last one to open, having only opened a month or so ago.

Our Review:

“Nestled in the vibrant Northgate Yard, La Kasia beckons you with its warm atmosphere and Spanish charm from the moment you step in. A friendly staff member greets you, escorting you to your table while handing you a menu brimming with delightful promises. The decor bursts with bright colours, echoing the heart and soul of Spain, instantly making you feel like you’ve been transported to a cosy tapas bar in Barcelona.

La Kasia’s menu is a treasure trove of cold and hot tapas, perfectly curated for both adventurous and comfort-food lovers. Cold tapas include refreshing Ensalada de Frijoles, indulgent Ensalada de Patatas Española, and the simple yet delicious Aliñado de Pepino y Tomate. If you crave something more sizzling, hot tapas like flavorful Pinchos, crispy Patatas Bravas, and spicy Albóndigas Picantes await your taste buds. And let’s not forget the delightful nibbles: briny Olives, crunchy Halloumi Chips, and creamy Croquetas.

Our culinary adventure saw us indulge in a medley of about eight tapas dishes. La Kasia thoughtfully recommends 4-6 dishes for two people, ensuring a perfectly paced tapas experience. Each dish arrives as soon as it’s ready, creating a delightful rhythm of flavours throughout the meal. Our favourites included the lightly spiced Patatas Bravas and succulent Skewers, served with a creamy garlic mayo and a tangy sweet chilli sauce. Every morsel was a testament to the chef’s culinary prowess.

While our overall experience was wonderful, there are a few opportunities for La Kasia to enhance its charm. Introducing a special board with unique creations could entice foodies and regulars alike to return for new and exciting dishes. We visited soon after the restaurant opened, and it was clear the waiting staff were still acquainting themselves with table numbers; a small hiccup that’s bound to improve over time. Additionally, the shared car park can feel cramped when it’s bustling with cinema-goers, restaurant patrons, and sports bar enthusiasts.

In conclusion, La Kasia is a delightful local venue worth visiting again. The team’s friendliness, the deliciously presented tapas on colourful crockery, and the reasonable prices make for a satisfying dining experience. We look forward to witnessing La Kasia’s continued growth and enjoying many more tapas-filled evenings in this Spanish haven.

Pros & Cons:

  • Lovely presentation on colourful crockery ✅
  • Delicious food, such as the Patatas Bravas ✅
  • Car park is way too small for all the venues ❌
  • Staff didn’t know table numbers/orders during first few days of opening ❌

Gourmet Gauge:
This place has a good base, but there is room for improvement. A food rotation or a specials board would add variety and returnability. The presentation was lovely, the staff were friendly and the value was as expected.
