Good morning, good afternoon, and good evening to all our readers, wherever you are in the world! My husband and I are passionate about cruises and have enjoyed five wonderful voyages over the past few years. We are thrilled to announce that our next adventure is just around the corner in April, when we will explore the beautiful Canary Islands. This will be a first-time experience for my husband, while for me, it feels like a nostalgic trip down memory lane, having visited Lanzarote, Tenerife, and Gran Canaria during my childhood on all-inclusive holidays.
In anticipation of our upcoming cruise, I have decided to create a series of blog posts showcasing the unique charm of each port we will be visiting. From must-see attractions and hidden gems to the best places to eat, join us as we embark on this exciting journey together. For this prompt, I will use my local city, Bristol, to Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland.
Aeroplane is by far the quickest way to get there, taking around an hour to get there, prices can fluctuate for this mode of transport, with weekend flights being more expensive, and the cheapest ones being in the middle of the day during the working week.
Trains in the UK are ridiculously expensive, so this won’t be the cheapest method of getting you there, however, the journey isn’t that long. Leaving at 7.00am the journey would only take five and a bit hours, with just one change in Birmingham.
Bus, kind of the middle ground of the modes of transport, Bristol to Edinburgh would take around 14hrs overnight, and would cost around £33, which actually isn’t too badly priced, probably the cheapest out of the “public transport” categories.
A car could well be the cheapest depending on a few parameters such as, what power your car runs on, how big the tank is, what litre engine the car has etc. If your car is electric it might be the cheapest way to get there, but it would take longer when you account for charging your car. The journey would take just under 7 hours, so it definitely isn’t the quickest way to get from one city to the other.
Cycling is the longest out of the modes of transport suggested by the prompt, it would take you 37hrs to get there, and that’s without stopping for any toilet stops, eating, or sleeping, when you take those into account, you’ll be looking over the 50hr mark. On the bright side, if you already own a bike, the journey itself is free.
Walking…don’t do this, it would take 137 hours, plus once you take in eating, toilet stops and overnight rest, you’re probably looking at closer to 200.
