In 2022, we set off on our very first holiday together… though to be completely honest, it wasn’t just any trip — it was our honeymoon. Freshly married in February and keen to fly from Bristol, we chose somewhere a little unexpected for our post-wedding getaway: the charming capital of Denmark, Copenhagen.
Between cobbled streets, canals, and far too many pastries (no regrets), we found ourselves diving into the local food scene — from flaky danishes to Michelin mentions. But one place stood out not just for its flavour, but for its atmosphere: Tivoli Food Hall. Sitting just outside the legendary Tivoli Gardens — the very theme park that inspired Walt Disney himself — this vibrant food court became a favourite during our stay. We tucked into four different vendors, each serving something entirely unique, and of course, we ran them through our trusted Gourmet Gauge. Scroll on for the delicious lowdown.
Our Reviews:
Cocks & Cows: “If you follow the scent of sizzling patties and golden fries wafting through Tivoli Food Hall, chances are it’ll lead you straight to Cocks & Cows — a burger joint that doesn’t just serve food, it performs it. Like many of the vendors here, everything is cooked fresh right in front of your eyes, and watching the grill team work their magic only adds to the mouthwatering anticipation.
The menu is tight, punchy, and focused — a clear sign that they’ve perfected their craft. With just six burgers on offer (two of them fully “green” for the plant-based crowd), it’s all killer, no filler. Whether you’re eyeing the Mr. Cheddy Eddy, stacked with gooey organic mature cheddar, or daring to conquer The Governator — a gloriously filthy tower of cheese, bacon, and crispy onion rings — you’re in for a flavour-packed feast.
Sides don’t play second fiddle here either. You’ve got four varieties of fries and classic extras like onion rings and chicken tenders — crispy, golden, and ideal for dipping. Prices? Surprisingly gentle on the wallet, especially for food grilled to order before your very eyes. And while the vibe was buzzing when we visited (peak time equals peak crowd), we’d recommend swinging by just before the lunch or dinner rush to snag one of the limited seats — some vendors only have a few tucked-away spots.
Everything arrives in casual, street-food-style packaging: cardboard trays, burgers neatly wrapped in parchment paper. It’s no-frills, all flavour — and frankly, that suits Cocks & Cows perfectly.”

Gorms: “Gorm’s, nestled right next to Cocks & Cows, is another of Tivoli’s fine culinary offerings. This buzzing pizza bar brings a Danish twist to a classic Italian staple, specialising in thin-crust sourdough pizzas that marry traditional techniques with high-quality local ingredients.
The menu features around 10 punchy, flavour-packed pizzas, including options such as:
- Sweet Truffle – a vegetarian delight with sweet potato, chilli fraiche and Danish Julsø solbær cheese.
- The Denny Special – Øllingegaard mozzarella, potato and goat cheese.
- Ko i Flammer – another Øllingegaard-topped option, this time with spicy beef, kale and crème fraîche.
My partner opted for the Ciao Bella, a thin-crust creation topped with portobello mushrooms, mascarpone and pancetta, while I went for the “Pimp Your Pizza” option, which allows you to customise your base with toppings of your choice at 20 kr per addition. We also shared a side of their garlic bread. Price-wise, most pizzas range between 100–125 kr (around £7–9), which I found to be outstanding value for money considering the quality.
Service was friendly and efficient, with the pizzas cooked in front of us and served promptly. Presentation was informal—on a pizza tray with a slip of baking paper separating each—but still a step up from typical takeaway fare. As with all stalls in the Tivoli Food Hall, the ambience is largely dictated by timing. Turn up at peak hours and you may struggle to find a seat, so aim for off-peak if you want a more relaxed experience.
The food itself was very enjoyable: crisp, thin bases, gooey, decadent cheese, and well-balanced flavours. That said, it didn’t quite reach the heights of Pizzeria Luca in central Copenhagen—one of only three spots to receive a coveted Golden Trekky award from us. Still, if you’re visiting Tivoli or even just passing through Copenhagen, Gorm’s is well worth a stop. With its blend of quality ingredients, Danish flair, and artisanal craft, it makes for a thoroughly satisfying meal.
Pros and Cons:
- Excellent value for money✅
- High quality ingredients ✅
- Friendly service✅
- Limited seating during peak hours❌
- Not the best pizza in Copenhagen❌
The Gourmet Gauge:
Tasty, inventive, and great value—Gorm’s serves up Danish-style pizzas that punch above their price. A solid stop in Tivoli Food Hall.

Hallernes Smørrebrød: “On our first full day in Copenhagen, we wanted to find somewhere to eat for lunch, nothing too heavy as we wanted to have a good meal out in the evening, so we visited Tivoli food hall. Now, a lot of the places in here serve hot food, pizza, pasta, Chinese cuisine etc, whereas we just wanted some pastry or a sandwich, and then we saw the dainty open top sandwiches of Hallernes Smørrebrød. We ordered one each and sat on the counter trying our first proper Danish cuisine.
At first we loved the flavours and taste of the open top sandwich, but for me, the more I ate, the more I started to dislike it, I think it was the flavour of the meat that was in mine. It wasn’t so bad that I didn’t finish it, but I wouldn’t go back and order the same item. The presentation though was some of the best we’ve seen and very artful. Once again, the ambience was a set back, as you’re just sat with everyone else in the food hall, and it can be loud at peak times.
The service here was very friendly, they helped to pick us out something that we would like and checked on us once we got our food, very attentive. In regards to value for money, it was a good deal, taking into consideration that Denmark is more expensive than the UK.”
Pros and Cons:
- Good value for money✅
- High quality ingredients ✅
- Artful presentation✅
- Limited seating during peak hours❌
- Wouldn’t choose that specific sandwich again❌

La Baracca: “The last place that we visited in the Tivoli Food Hall during our honeymoon in Copenhagen, and personally, for us both, it was our favourite place. We had been eyeing up La Baracca whenever we stepped into the food hall. It was an Italian cuisine restaurant serving up fresh pasta, and it made us drool whenever we walked by, but the seats at the counter were always full. Then we got lucky.
We both ordered the carbonara, and it was theatre watching the chef rustle it up for us. With this venue the food menu was very small, only 7 options, including Bolognese, Arrabbiata and pesto pasta. The food was presented elegantly with shavings of parmesan dusting the top of the dish and it tasted delicious. The highlight though was the service, the gentleman running the place were so attentive, making sure our glasses stayed full, trying to entice us with desserts and checking on us and our meal.
Once again, ambience scored low, check above reviews for the reason why and the value for money was a good deal, but Danish prices are expensive to begin with. This restaurant is a must visit in the Tivoli Food Hall!”
Pros and Cons:
- Excellent service✅
- High quality ingredients ✅
- Delicious freshly cooked pasta✅
- Limited seating during peak hours❌
The Gourmet Gauge:
Fresh homemade pasta which was delicious and elegantly presented. La Baracca is one of the top restaurants within Tivoli Food Hall.
