The quote I live my life by nowadays is a simple one: “Try.”
It doesn’t matter what life throws your way — just give it a go. If you don’t like it, no harm done; at least you’ll know. But you might just surprise yourself.
Take my recent cruise, for example. Our first stop was Madeira, where we’d planned to ride the cable car up the mountain and toboggan down. Now, did I want to dangle in a glass box on a thin wire? Absolutely not. But I craved the adrenaline of that downhill ride, so I braved the heights. Would I do it again? No chance — I was glued to my seat the entire time. But I tried. And that matters.
The cruise was also packed with culinary firsts:
🍏 An apple tarte — I’m a chocolate dessert loyalist, but I gave it a go.
🐟 A salmon curry — seafood isn’t usually my thing, but why not?
🥐 Local pastries throughout the Canary Islands — flaky, strange, delicious.
When you’re travelling, you don’t know when — or if — you’ll be back. So why not soak up every bite, sight, and thrill while you can?
Next time you’re faced with something new, something a little outside your comfort zone — remember this: just try it.
