Tucked away in the heart of Bridgwater—a bustling town on Somerset’s west side—lies a breakfast spot that’s as bold as its name: The Wild Rocket. Despite having lived here for a few years, we hadn’t even heard whispers of it. That all changed with one spontaneous scroll through Google Maps. Glowing reviews? Check. A breakfast menu that practically dared us to try it? Double check. So, on a laid-back Sunday morning, we booked a table, grabbed our appetites, and set off on a culinary mission. Curious how it went? Strap in for our full review below.

Our Review:
“After a smooth take-off with a glowing menu and stellar reviews, The Wild Rocket had already piqued our curiosity. Tucked in the heart of Bridgwater, this unassuming spot promised big breakfast energy—and let’s just say, it delivered in full throttle.
We touched down right at 10am, greeted warmly by the crew, who, as we were the first aboard, let us choose our seats. A small gesture, but it set the tone—personal, thoughtful, and relaxed. We settled into a cosy corner, taking in the space: deep red cushioned seating, crisp white walls, and dark wood tables created an atmosphere that was surprisingly elegant for a venue in Bridgwater. It had that touch of class that said, “you’re in for a treat.”
Our drinks were simple but satisfying—just coffee and water for this mission. The drinks menu had a wide orbit: hot beverages, soft drinks, even cocktails and beers for the bolder adventurers. But we had breakfast on the brain.
I’d already scouted the menu from home (mission planning is essential, after all), and there was no hesitation—I went straight for the Wild Rocket Mega Breakfast. A breakfast that earns the “mega” title with pride: 3 sausages, 3 bacon, 3 hash browns, beans, mushrooms, tomato, 3 eggs (fried, poached or scrambled), and 2 slices of bread (fried, toasted, or the good old bread & butter). An absolute goliath. My husband opted for a lighter but no less impressive Eggs Avo—a toasted English muffin layered with smashed avocado, feta, poached eggs, and hollandaise.
Once we’d launched our order, we settled in for the wait, watching the place slowly fill up around us. It was clear this wasn’t just a hidden gem anymore; people knew, and they were coming in steadily. The atmosphere buzzed, and the staff remained attentive and friendly, checking in and offering sauces without prompting. Mission control was on point.
And then—touchdown.
My Mega Breakfast arrived looking even more colossal than expected. The plate was a constellation of colour and texture. The eggs were runny perfection, the sausages meaty and robust (none of that sad, bland filler here), and the bacon? Just the right side of crispy without being dry. The hash browns struck that golden balance of potato and onion, the beans came cloaked in a thick, flavourful sauce, and the mushrooms were button—a small detail, but an important one for me, as I’m not a fan of the usual flat caps you get elsewhere. And then… the fried bread. A rare find these days, but here it was—golden, indulgent, and nostalgic. One bite took me straight back to childhood breakfasts at my grandparents’, where fried egg on fried bread (cut into four squares and lovingly called “egg on four”) was a weekend ritual. For me, this breakfast wasn’t just delicious—it was personal.
The presentation of the breakfasts was thoughtfully done, adding an extra layer of delight. The Mega Breakfast was carefully arranged, with the beans placed in a ramekin to keep them separate from the other elements on the plate—a nice touch that helped maintain the freshness and texture of the other ingredients. As for the Eggs Avo, it was delicately plated, with a simple elegance that highlighted the vibrant colours of the smashed avocado and the perfectly poached eggs. This was presentation done right.
And here’s the kicker—the price. At just £15.50 for the Mega Breakfast, it felt like a bargain and a half. Add in the Eggs Avo and our drinks, and we paid £29 in total—a remarkably reasonable price for two high-quality breakfasts and a coffee. Quality and quantity at that price? Consider us impressed.
My husband’s Eggs Avo also soared. The poached eggs were textbook-perfect, the hollandaise silky and balanced, the avocado well seasoned. His only minor gripe? A little more feta would’ve propelled the dish from excellent to exceptional. By the time we left, the place was buzzing with satisfied diners. There was a clear gravitational pull drawing people in—and now we completely understand why.
In short, The Wild Rocket didn’t just serve us breakfast—it launched our Sunday into orbit. We’re already planning a return mission for dinner… and that Sunday roast? Consider it a countdown initiated.”
