I have to admit, I have never been a keen reader at any point in my life. At school, I only read when I had to in lessons, and even in adult life, the only books that interest me are recipe books! But there have been exceptions. Below, I will explore the odd few books that I have actually read, both in my childhood and in later adulthood.
- The World According to Jeremy Clarkson series: This is the one book series that I read nearly fully when I was in my teenage years. Being a big fan of the TV show Top Gear back in its prime, I was fully invested in all things Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond & James May. When I came across Clarkson’s first book in the series, I was hooked, and I’m pretty sure I read the whole collection. I will add that these were predominantly read on holidays, and I would never read at home.
- Artemis Fowl: I remember reading bits of these books back in school. I remember having 3 books and each one had a sparkly cover, one was bronze, one silver and the other was gold. Looking into it now, they may have been worth quite a bit these days.
- Rosemary Shrager Fiction: Rosemary Shrager is a well-known TV chef here in the UK. Most would presume that her books would all be cookbooks and how to make the perfect roast pheasant with pan gravy; however, she also wrote a trilogy of crime novels. These crime novels were set in cheffy environments, and the first one in the series got me hooked. I have the second one ready to read on our upcoming cruise to the Mediterranean.
- The Official UK PlayStation Magazine: What young lad wasn’t reading the PlayStation magazine back in their youth?! Reviews about upcoming games such as Grand Theft Auto, photos of Tomb Raider and a Demo Disc showcasing games such as Kula World, Ghost in a Shell and many more!
- Travel Guides & Holiday Brochures: As a travel & food blog, you can imagine that I enjoy salivating my way through a holiday brochure, looking at what destinations to visit next…and you’d be right! If I see a travel brochure, I just have to flick through it, and instantly my mind is taken to that location, and I’m already mentally planning what sort of food I’d be eating and locations to visit!
