P&O Iona: The Quays

The Quays is a new venue that was introduced for Iona, and followed up in her sister ship, Arvia. On board Iona, the Quays features 3 unique “fast food” styled eateries. They are; Hook, Line & Vinegar, The Boardwalk Diner & Fusion. Meanwhile Arvia keeps Fusion and Hook, Line & Vinegar but replaces The Boardwalk Diner with Carvery. This is because Arvia has a separate restaurant called 7th Street Diner.

Hook, Line & Vinegar is a fish & chip shop, and is known amongst cruisers as one of the best fish & chips at sea. They usually offer a type of battered fish, alongside chips and curry sauce, mushy peas & tartar sauce.

Boardwalk Diner offers traditional American fast food cuisine. So you can get things such as burgers, chicken burgers & hot dogs.

Fusion is your Asian restaurant on board, in the past they have offered meals such as noodles & katsu chicken (one of my favourite things on board!).

Carvery, exclusive to Arvia, gives you the classic Sunday Roast, on any day of the week, pick your meat, select your trimmings and don’t forget the Yorkshire!

Another thing about The Quays is that they also open up for breakfast, but they all offer unique breakfast experiences. One offers custom-made Omlettes, another does Pancakes & Waffles made to order, and the other one offers your Full English Breakfast.

The Quays is kind of the middle ground between The Horizon Buffet & The Main Dining Rooms. It is very popular, so avoid it at peak times.

Gourmet Gauge:
The Bower Inn delivers a warm, country-style experience with flavourful food, friendly service, and a setting that feels like a proper countryside escape. While the cost may be a touch high for some, the overall quality and charm make it a worthwhile local gem.
