Baths Best Burgers; Beefy Boys

For the day after my birthday, my husband and I decided to have a little trip to Bath, a lovely historic city just outside of Bristol. My idea for the day was food & shopping. I loaded up Google Maps and bookmarked loads of eateries that we could try whilst having an exploration of the shops. The place that we booked for lunch was a well-known burger establishment named The Beefy Boys. They are World Burger Championship Finalists and winners of the National Burger Award.

Our Review:

“We arrived at the restaurant, and already I was getting great vibes. The decor was right up my street, slightly industrial/urban with the perfect blend of music playing in the background, enough to create a nice ambience, but not too loud to overpower people talking. We were shown to our table, and perused the drinks menu. My husband went for a lemonade, and I decided to try the Biscoff Milkshake; in recent years, I have begun a new love of milkshakes, and am making up for the many years prior of neglecting it.

We then cast our eyes over the food menu, so many burgers to have and different options and combinations! We could have smashed patties, regular burgers, Oklahoma style smashed patties, we could have our burger come with a cheese skirt too! Then the actual fillings, there was a blue cheese burger, a chipotle burger, a pizza burger, and then there were also chicken burgers, which came in buttermilk fried chicken, or grilled chicken. Then you have the sides, dirty fries, mac & cheese balls and salads. This restaurant was my heaven. I ordered the Chipotle Burger with Smashed Patties & Bacon Dirty Fries.

Before we got there, I had checked the reviews and people said they had come from afar to try these burgers, and damn, I now know why. They were the best burgers I had personally consumed! My husband said the ones at The Witching Post Inn in Egton were slightly better than theirs, but I wasn’t having it! The burgers were presented nicely on a plate, very Instagrammable, and they were set on personalised baking paper, and the fries were stacked on a separate plate with drizzles of sauce!

The staff, from those who welcomed us to those who served us, were all super friendly and attentive. They knew when to pop over and check on us, and that made us comfortable and happy knowing that they were keeping an eye on us. The prices weren’t over the top for award-winning burgers either. 3 drinks, 2 burgers and 2 sides came to £54, which we thought was very good value for money!

So if you happen to be in Bath, or one of the other towns where Beefy Boys are located, you need to check them out, world-class burgers with world-class service. Can’t wait to come back again now!

*Edit upon second visit. We were slightly underwhelmed after how much we loved our visit the first time around. The burgers seemed slightly greasy this time, and I wasn’t a fan of the burger sauce. Service wasn’t as good as we received the wrong drink to begin with, quickly rectified though.

Pros & Cons:

  • Great decor & vibes✅
  • Some of the best burgers✅
  • Friendly, attentive staff✅
  • Busy at peak times❌

Gourmet Gauge:
After visiting a second time, the ratings have been shifted. They burgers are still good, and some of the best we have had, but slight changes lowered it for us.
