I love it when travel-inspired questions pop up on the Daily Writing Prompt! There are many countries I want to visit, so I’ve listed them below with my reasons why.
Europe:
- Austria – Would love to visit the cities of Vienna & Salzburg.
- Croatia – Would love to visit the cities of Zagreb & Split, as well as Dubrovnik, where my parents had their honeymoon.
- Czechia – The only city I have a real interest in visiting is Prague.
- Finland – I have a fascination with the Baltic countries, would love to visit Helsinki, and venture further up into the colder regions.
- Iceland – Similar to Finland, I would love to do a cruise around the country and visit Reykjavik.
- Ireland – To visit Dublin, and a potential road trip around the country. Visiting Dublin in October.
- Italy – One of the big European countries I am yet to visit. There are early plans for our American friends to meet us in Italy next year.
- Luxembourg – Have an unknown passion towards Luxembourg, such a small country.
- Monaco – Not really a country, but there are early plans to visit the French Riviera next year, and we would visit Monaco during this holiday.
- North Macedonia – Not even sure if people visit the country for holidays, but I loved their flag when I was younger, so it would be nice to see what it was like.
- San Marino – Similar to Luxembourg, such a small country.
- Sweden – Similar reasons to Finland & Iceland. Would love to visit Stockholm & Malmö.
- Switzerland – Swiss chocolate, what other reasons are needed!?
Asia:
- Japan – Watched a travel documentary by James May, which looked very interesting, and I think with the ever-growing helpfulness of AI and its translation services, it will only get easier for Europeans to visit.
- Maldives – Would be nice for a relaxing holiday.
The Americas:
- Canada – Would love to visit Toronto, the home of Ice Hockey.
- Cuba – Had a fascination of this place since a young age. Love the vibes and old classic cars.
Countries I’d Like to Revisit:
- America – The place is too big, you almost have to treat each state as a separate country! We have visited Kansas City, but I would love to visit Miami, as I grew up playing GTA: Vice City. My husband, on the other hand, is a big country music fan and would love to visit Nashville!
- Norway – We have done 2 Norwegian Fjord cruises, but we would love to visit Oslo.
- France – As previously mentioned, I would love to visit the French Riviera, and hopefully, this will be achieved next year.
- Scotland – We visited Edinburgh last October and fell in love with the city, but we would love to explore more of the country.
In regard to some of the countries that I haven’t included. I haven’t included some European countries due to their stance on the LGBT community, which is also the same reason that a large number of South American countries & Caribbean Islands haven’t been mentioned. As to Asia, I have recently watched the newest series of Race Across the World, and they race across India & China, and it just didn’t interest me, and the cities were way too busy for my liking! Finally, Australia…New Zealand…you have too many big, dangerous critters, and I don’t want to be finding a huntsman spider in my bedroom before settling down for the evening. Out of all the countries I wouldn’t want to visit, you’re top. 😉
So, looks like I have a lot of travelling to do if I want to visit all of these places. I could have gone even further with where I want to visit by going into the individual cities I want to visit, but the prompt was for the countries. I hope you have enjoyed reading!
