Café Andaluz is a stylish Spanish tapas restaurant with multiple venues across Edinburgh—most notably on George IV Bridge in the Old Town and George Street in the New Town.

Our Review:
“During our five-day visit to Edinburgh, we found ourselves one evening at Café Andaluz on George IV Bridge, ready to indulge in their vibrant spread of tapas. The menu was brimming with tempting choices, and it didn’t take long before our table was laden with a feast: garlic cheese loaf, albondigas, croquetas de jamón, patatas bravas, and patatas gratinadas. After swiftly devouring those, we couldn’t resist a second round — another garlic cheese loaf, more patatas bravas, and a bubbling queso de cabra al horno.
The flavours didn’t disappoint. The patatas bravas were golden and crisp, topped with a lively, spicy tomato sauce and a rich, garlicky alioli that struck the perfect balance. The garlic cheese loaf was a standout — often cheese-topped bread ends up soggy, but here it managed that perfect contrast of crisp crust and gooey, melted cheese. Everything came out attractively presented, hearty and inviting, with portions designed for sharing.
Pricing felt fair for the city: most tapas came in at £6–£8, meaning five plates averaged around £40, which is reasonable by Edinburgh standards, given the location and quality. The décor deserves a mention too: rustic ceramic tiles, a handsome Spanish tiled floor, and a striking bull ornament taking centre stage — all helping transport you straight to Andalusia. Service was warm and helpful, though we did have to flag a staff member down when we were ready for round two.
All in all, Café Andaluz delivers a satisfying tapas experience in the heart of Edinburgh’s Old Town. If you’re in the city and craving a lively, authentic slice of Spain, it’s well worth a visit.
Pros & Cons:
- Delicious, well-executed tapas✅
- Beautiful Spanish-inspired decor✅
- Fair pricing for central Edinburgh✅
- Friendly service, but slow for reordering❌
- Popular spot, can get lively❌
Gourmet Gauge:
Flavoursome, well presented tapas was complimented with Andalusian decor and a lively atmosphere. Service was good, but could of been slightly more attentive, and the food was a solid deal for the price.
