My Ideal Home Dreams and a 6-State Road Trip Adventure
Daily writing prompt
What does your ideal home look like?

When growing up, I always used to say, “I feel like an American trapped in a British man’s body”, because I was infatuated with every American. I loved their houses, I loved their cars, I loved the variety of states, I loved their food. So, regarding the prompt above, I would have to say that my ideal, dream home would be stylised off of the classic American suburban home. The building would be panelled, with a good amount of gables. American houses always seem to have gables! Big windows with shutters, maybe some exposed stonework, and of course, it has to have a pristine lawn out front with an adorable mailbox as well! It would all be painted in an “off white” or a light pastel colour.

Our 6-State Road Trip Plan

Speaking of America. We are currently planning our one and only holiday in 2027. A road trip around New England in the Fall. We plan to fly into Boston and make the long drive down to Sleepy Hollow. (Yes, we could fly to New York, but it works better to arrive and leave via Boston.) Then we will slowly make our way up through Massachusetts, visiting towns such as Stockbridge and Lenox. We will make our way up into Vermont, ticking off towns such as Woodstock, Stowe and Waitsfield. After that, we head East into New Hampshire, visiting the White Mountain region before heading down to Lake Winnepesaukee. After that, we head Southeast down to Salem before ending the 2-week adventure back in Boston.

We mention 6 states, but above we only mention New York, Massachusetts, Vermont & New Hampshire. That’s because we are leaving ourselves with options. There is potential along the way to “dip in, and out” of multiple other states, such as Rhode Island & Maine, but also a day trip into Scranton, Pennsylvania, home of The Office, one of our favourite sitcoms.

Have you visited any of these states? Is there somewhere you would particularly recommend? Drop us a comment down below, and give us a follow too. Every follow helps us make this the blog we want it to be.
