Are you considering a trip to Denmark’s capital city, Copenhagen? Then check out our top 10 spots to see and visit, including glorious landmarks, the best places to eat and a few hidden gems.
1. NY Carlsberg Glyptotek
Visit this fine art museum in the centre of Copenhagen, just past the famous Tivoli Gardens. It is filled with fine Mediterranean sculptures as well as a whole host of 19th-century French & Danish work.

2. Tivoli Gardens
Ahh, Tivoli Gardens…the inspiration to Walt Disney, apparently. It was built in the 19th century and is home to an antique rollercoaster. This is a seasonal attraction, so be sure to check the opening times before visiting Copenhagen.

3. Christiansborg Palace
One of many royal palaces in the city. This was originally built back in the 12th century, and you are able to tour around it, visiting lavish reception rooms, the stables, as well as climbing the tower, which gives great views across the city.

4. Sankt Peders Bageri
This is a hidden gem of a bakery. Tucked down a narrow cobbled street, this little bakery lures you in with the scents that drift out through the door. I highly recommend the chocolate and salted caramel pastry.

5. The Round Tower
A unique building in Copenhagen. This tall tower has no steps to climb to the top; instead, it is one long uphill slope that takes you to the very top. It was originally built in the 17th century, but it is now used as a planetarium and event space.

6. Rosenborg Palace
This palace can be found not far from the centre of Copenhagen. However, this palace isn’t Danish, but in fact, Dutch. Once again, you are able to tour this Dutch Renaissance castle, including a visit to the Crown Jewels.

7. Palmehuset
These botanical gardens are based within a large park area. There is one large glasshouse to explore, as well as some smaller ones just in front.

8. Amalienborg Palace
The current living quarters of the Danish Royal Family during the winter season. It is an 18th-century Rococo complex of palaces. You can watch displays from the Royal Guard, as well as visit some areas of the Palaces.

9. Pizzeria Luca
Another hidden gem. This pizzeria is just outside the Christiansborg Palace. It is a small venue, but the offerings are absolutely delightful. For our frequent readers, you’d be aware of our restaurant reviews, and currently, Pizzeria Luca sits at number 2 on our list. *Unfortunately, I have lost the images of this meal
10. Home of Carlsberg
A visit to Denmark wouldn’t be complete without trying their local, world-famous lager. Come along to the Home of Carlsberg and take a tour of the interactive museum, and try some of that world-famous lager too!
