2 Hilarious Cooking Nightmares + My Etsy Store for Food & Travel Lovers

For me, I fail in the kitchen is when my husband doesn’t like what I’ve cooked for him, and I have two memories of this happening. The first was a Spaghetti Carbonara, and the second was some version of Chilli Con Carne and rice.

Now, Spaghetti Carbonara, normally I would cheat and use a jar sauce, although I can make a bechamel, it’s just a time saver. This time though, I decided to use a recipe from a YouTuber that I follow called Barry Lewis (sidenote, he is actually local to me, living a few towns North, one day I hope to bump into him!). Anyway, I used his recipe, and the sauce was cooked around the spaghetti, by adding butter and cheese, it should of blended together into a sauce, but it all clumped together. My husband, who, if Carbonara is on the menu, will always order it. Hated it. I did not hear the end of it. The fact that he left pretty much all of it, just shows how bad it turned out.

The Chilli Con Carne. Now, recently we have started doing Hello Fresh. For those of you who don’t know, this company allows you to select meals on the app, and it’ll deliver the ingredients and the recipes for you to cook at home, meaning you save on food waste and eat healthily. After a while we decided to try going shopping, and using the recipe cards to gather ingredients and see if it works out cheaper just getting the food from the shop, rather than Hello Fresh. I got home and started cooking, using all the ingredients (bar one, which would be impossible to find), it looked delicious.

We sat down to eat it, and…there was absolutely no flavour to it whatsoever, plain, boring, whatever other word you want to use. The beans were also quite hard as well. Husband, once again, was not pleased, and once again, left a lot of it…as did I. The ingredient that I had left out was called “Smoky Paste”, which helped to give the Chilli mix the smoky flavour, and perhaps this ingredient is what caused the lack of flavour.

Our Etsy Store

Are you going on holiday soon? Do you hate having to search for things to do, or places to grab a bite to eat or a drink? Well…this is something that I love doing! I am a Google Local Guide, and have over 9,000,000 views across my reviews and photo uploads. On my Etsy store, I have a ‘Custom City Guide’ for sale, where I create you a Custom Google Map with around 30 pins of places to go, foodie hot spots and coffee rest bites. This is a digital product, so that when you get to your destination, you can load up the map and away you go. Perfect. I really love planning these sort of things, and I am desperate to get my first sale, so I create something awesome for someone. Feel free to check out my store here.
