Coasters, Walking Sticks & Anglo Saxon Tools
Daily writing prompt
What’s the coolest thing you’ve ever found (and kept)?

Firstly, I am going to presume that this question implies that I have found something that someone has dumped, has been left behind, or is a product of nature. As technically I can say that I found a cool hat in a shop and kept it once purchasing it…less exciting right?

Anyway, we are a travel & food blog so I feel like that we should start with something I very naughtily do when travelling, and that is…
1. If I see a nice seashell, damn right I am picking it up and taking it, even though it is looked down upon, and….
2. If I am abroad somewhere, and I am trying a local alcoholic beverage, if you give me a coaster, I am putting it straight in my bag. Please don’t call the cops. We’ve been to the Isle of Wight and we’ve tried a local Goddard’s beer and I nabbed the coaster, as I have done with some Spanish beers in the past.

Another thing that I found was a cool looking branch that had fallen off a tree nearby to our old family home, it was quite thick and sturdy, so I thought to myself, I’ll take it back home and get my dad to shave the bark off of it and turn it into a walking stick. This was probably nearly 20 years ago, and I still have it to this very day.

A funny story happened a while back on our most recent visit to The New Forest. We popped into Burley Manor for a quick hot beverage, I went for the Hot Chocolate, pure delight. Anyway, we left and was admiring the deer that they have and a lady ran out saying “excuse me you’ve left your sunglasses behind”. At this very moment in time, I knew that I had left them in the car, as it was overcast, however they did look very similar, so I presumed that perhaps I had them on my head and took them off. Walked off and looked down at them to notice they were a rather expensive brand, where as mine was a knockoff pair of Mercedes aviators…did I turn back and hand them in, you can decide upon that yourselves.

And finally, one that doesn’t include me stealing nature, coasters or sunglasses. My dad was digging part of the garden up a while back and he came across this funny looking stone. Turns out, it looks like it is an old Anglo Saxon tool.
