The Not-So-Charming Town of Bridgwater, Currently Known As a Car Park
Daily writing prompt
What is your favorite place to go in your city?

Unfortunately we don’t live in a city, so we shall talk about the town we live in…Bridgwater. It’s an industrial town in Somerset, just off the M5 motorway, close to Glastonbury Festival (a great indicator, with its popularity). It’s a bit of a dump, there is a lot of nothing going on there, and at the moment, with stupid amounts of roadworks, and the council changing road layouts, it’s also a car park. It has made local news, and reached Parliament with how bad it is. Cars everywhere, stationary, unable to move. A trip that would take 20 minutes is now close to an hour, if not longer.

But there are some gems hidden amongst the rubbish. We have some great coffee shops, and our personal favourite is called Slate, just off of the high street, behind Angel Place. There is also some good restaurants with our favourites being The Wild Rocket & Bower Inn, and there is a good modern entertainment complex, consisting of multi-screen cinema, sports bar (with bowling alley and arcade games) and a bunch of restaurants. (Speaking of, I hate the fact that one of them is a Domino’s, when its situated near to a cinema etc, they should all be sit-in restaurants, not takeaways).

Honestly, there is constantly more and more houses being built, and I do hope that the council can turn Bridgwater beautiful again. The town centre COULD be splendid. The quays COULD be splendid. We need to sort out the homeless problem, invest it some proper schemes, give the Angel Place shopping centre a complete overhaul, and with those few tweaks, our town could be thriving again…..it won’t happen though.

I hope you all had a great weekend, the countdown to Christmas has begun if you believe in it/take part in the festivities. Think its around 40 days or so now, which seems absolutely mental, how has it come round so quick again!? I’m actually typing this out with Christmas music on in the background…too early? On topic, what’s your favourite Christmas song?
