Northern Europe Cruise Guide: Rotterdam

Good morning, good afternoon, and good evening to all our readers, wherever you are in the world! My husband and I are passionate about cruises and have enjoyed eight wonderful voyages over the past few years. We are thrilled to announce that our next adventure is just around the corner in February, when we will explore a beautiful area of Northern Europe.

In anticipation of our upcoming cruise, I have decided to create a series of blog posts showcasing the unique charm of each port we will be visiting. From must-see attractions and hidden gems to the best places to eat, join us as we embark on this exciting journey together.

The Itinerary:

Day 1: Embark Southampton
Day 2: Sea Day
Day 3: Hamburg
Day 4: At Sea
Day 5: Rotterdam
Day 6: Rotterdam
Day 7: Bruges

Day 8: Disembark Southampton

Rotterdam, Things To Do & Places To Eat:

Stadium Feijenoord: Home of the football team Feyenoord
SS Rotterdam: A former cruise ship turned into a floating hotel.
Erasmusbrug: The famous Rotterdam bridge.
Euromast: Viewing platform just outside Het Park.
Het Park: An English-style landscaped garden designed in 1852.
De Boeg: Waterside monument dedicated to the Merchant Navy.
Markthal: Huge food market with ceiling mural, check out our review of some of the eateries here.
Kijk-Kubus Museum: Furnished cube houses with one of them being an open museum.
Rotterdam Central Library: Some very unique architecture for this building.
Maritime Museum: Large indoor and outdoor ship museum in the centre.
Rotterdam Zoo: Walkable, but public transport available, an old zoo that mixes old and new enclosures. One of our personal favourites.
Miniworld Rotterdam: A miniature model of Rotterdam, with day and night cycles.
Spartapark: Home to Sparta Rotterdam B.V.
Dutch Pinball Museum: Urban museum housing modern and retro pinball machines. Check for opening days!
Delfshaven District: Old style district with a canal running through the middle, and a windmill standing picturesque at the end.
S.B.V. Excelsior: The 3rd top Dutch league football team based in Rotterdam, this one doesn’t have a club shop though!

Sorry for the lack of food and drink recommendations for this stop, we do highly recommend the Markthal though, as that is where we go for all of our food & drink when visiting this port!
