If you’re exploring the upscale neighbourhood of Yorkville in Toronto, Yorkville Crêpes is a café known for its sweet and savoury crêpes, waffles and brunch-style dishes. Located close to attractions like the Royal Ontario Museum, it’s a convenient breakfast stop for visitors exploring the area.
During our Toronto trip we stopped in for breakfast while visiting several neighbourhoods — but unfortunately the experience didn’t quite live up to expectations.

Dining at Yorkville Crepes:
On day four of our Toronto trip, we spent the morning exploring several neighbourhoods including Yorkville, Cabbagetown and Little Italy.
For breakfast we decided to stop at Yorkville Crêpes, arriving around half an hour after opening. To our surprise, we appeared to be the very first customers of the day.
Inside there was a young staff member working alone, and he seemed a little overwhelmed at times — perhaps it was his first shift running the front of house by himself.
Atmosphere & Setting:
The interior of the café was actually one of the highlights. The décor felt charming and elegant, almost like stepping into a quaint Parisian café, with tasteful design and a cosy feel.
However, because we were the only customers in the restaurant, the atmosphere felt a little quiet and subdued rather than lively.
What We Ordered:
We both ordered the same savoury crêpe filled with:
- Crispy bacon
- Brie
- Scrambled egg
- Maple Syrup
The presentation looked great, and the bacon was nicely crispy while the brie was cooked well and nicely melted. Unfortunately, there were a couple of issues.
Firstly, the crêpe itself had a slightly chemical taste that overshadowed much of the flavour. It was difficult to pinpoint exactly what caused it, but it did affect the overall experience.
Secondly, neither of our crêpes actually contained scrambled egg, despite it being a key ingredient listed on the menu. My husband didn’t notice until after we left, but I had specifically ordered the dish because of the scrambled egg — so that was a disappointing oversight.
Service & Overall Experience
The staff member serving us was polite but fairly quiet and not particularly engaging. Given he appeared to be working alone, it may simply have been his first day opening the place by himself.
The restaurant itself has strong reviews online, so it’s possible we simply caught them on an off morning. However, as visitors travelling from abroad, we only had one opportunity to try it — and unfortunately this visit didn’t quite deliver.
Final Thoughts:
While the décor and concept of Yorkville Crêpes were appealing, the overall experience fell short due to the food issues and quiet service. It may well have been a one-off situation, especially given its positive reviews elsewhere, but based on our visit it ended up being the least impressive stop of our Toronto food tour.
Pros and Cons:
- Beautiful Parisian-style café décor✅
- Missing ingredients from the order❌
- Chemical taste in the crêpe batter❌
