Good morning, good afternoon and good evening. If you have read this website over the year or so that we have been active, you would of realised that we visit The New Forest quite a lot. A local Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and a National Park, this place attracts tourists throughout the year, and is also home to nearly 200,000 people.
However, recently there have been plans to divide the New Forest in half, where the east side of it would become part of the Southampton local council, meaning that they will be lumped with policies and procedures that are fit for a city, not a rural location. What’s worse? 97% of the people who responded to the public consultation opposed this divide of the New Forest. Voices unheard, no vote, no mandate, no meaningful say in a decision that will reshape The New Forest for generations.
The New Forest is one of the few places in the south of England that is home to free roaming horses, cows, pigs, deer & donkeys, who graze on the land, maintaining it. We visit here at least twice a year, it is our happy place where we go and watch nature being nature and we can’t imagine it slowly being urbanized.
You may not live in the UK, or even have visited The New Forest, but every signature will help stop them from carving up this beautiful place. So please, sign the petition in the link below, and stop governments and councils from doing what they want, without the permission of the people.
